Facebook Now Supports GIF Images

Here is grand news from the social media giant – Facebook. The site will now allow its users to share GIF images in the Facebook News Feed. The update is still rolling out, which means not everyone will be able to access this added functionality from their profile. If you are already seeing it, you are among the lucky few!
Earlier Facebook had taken a conscious decision of not supporting GIF images. The supporting reason they gave was, it would make News Feed look “too chaotic” with low-quality memes. Instead, the social media giant focused on video sharing till date. But, in order to bring an animated feel to the timeline, Facebook will now allow users to share GIFs.
Facebook users can paste a link of a GIF image from an external website on their status update box and post it on their timeline. The GIF will be animated once published. Currently the site is not allowing direct uploads of GIFs though.
“We’re rolling out support for animated GIFs in News Feed. This is so you can share more fun, expressive things with your friends on Facebook”, stated a spokesperson from Facebook.
