With Some Unique PHP Work and a Little Creativity, We Built a Niche Social Media Platform for Our Client
A client recently hired us to complete a unique a project requiring a great deal of custom PHP work.
The client had a vision. He wanted a social media site for fitness and sports lovers to network and meet up with one another. This platform would ideally allow users to join like-minded groups, get news on what’s happening nearby, and even post their own content.
The client wanted to know if we could make that happen, and the answer, of course, was “Yes!”
We built everything in WordPress and PHP.
The site is full of features. Users can select and navigate between sports categories, their “stream” (similar to a FB feed), chat, the blog, and their groups.
Ultimately, the website functions a lot like Facebook, but with an added emphasis on groups and specific sports. Users can select between yoga, running, and cycling, and join subgroups related to each sport.
Making the UX streamlined and simple was a priority for us, and in this, we feel we succeeded.
The challenge of creating custom PHP is, of course, one we were glad to take on. Every new project that comes along is a chance to develop and hone our skills according to shifting industry standards.
Our stack for this project consisted of WordPress, MySql, PHP, and Javascript.
