Just like the previous years, on Nov 25, Capital Numbers participated in the fifth edition of “Airtel Run for Education,” a charity fundraising sports event. Like the name implies, the event invited people and organizations to compete in a race, and the proceeds went to further education in underprivileged areas.
More than 8000 participants from all over India took part in the marathon run comprising of four categories – Fun run, 5 Kms, 10 Kms, 21 Kms. Approximately 60 employees of Capital Numbers took part in the event across different categories.
About “Run For Education”
According to the official website:
“The event brought enthusiastic professional and novice runners on one platform defining the true spirit of humanity and sportsmanship and generating awareness for education and fitness for all…The recipient of this year’s aid would be Sarada Sishu Mandir, Tanterberia, Howrah”
This initiative was first undertaken by Round Table India (RTI) in 2014 and has since grown in size and scope. RTI, a young men’s club for professionals, seeks to serve the community by building infrastructure for the education of underprivileged children.
At Capital Numbers, we were excited to help this initiative. By participating in an event that encourages better education and better health, we can contribute towards helping children reach a brighter future.
As a nation, India has made leaps and bounds in the education sector, partially due to the efforts of organizations like RTI and Run For Education. We are also personally grateful for the opportunity to directly make an impact in this area, by sponsoring a small orphanage that helps children attain education. However, there is still work to be done in certain portions of our society.
Contributions platformed by RTI and Run For Education may seem small in the grand scheme of things, but over time, consistent efforts add up. Not only does the money go to support education infrastructure, the event itself can serve as a platform from which to raise awareness for our goals.
